Gift Idea: Whats in the Bible DVDs

Thursday December 1, 2011

As the holidays approach, I’m sharing a few gift ideas. These are either products we own and love, or products we would love to acquire.

What’s in the Bible DVD Series

A Great Gift For: Kids of all ages who want to learn about the Bible in a fun and informative way

Price: ~$14 at Amazon

We were big fans of Veggie Tales when our kids were preschoolers.  So when we learned Veggie Tale creator, Phil Vischer, was working on a new project, we couldn’t wait to check it out.   The result is a wonderful Muppet-esque series titled “What’s in the Bible?” with Buck Denver.

Vischer and his crew at Jellyfish Labs have created really informative, really fun and funny videos that aim to give children a solid understanding of Biblical fundamentals.  Each volume in the series (12 are planned) covers part of the Bible and helps kids understand both church history and the purpose and basic teachings of each book of the Bible.   Heavy stuff, but done really well and really fun!

The writing is clever, the songs are catchy and fun and we haved enjoyed each volume we’ve received (we have 1-3).

You can learn more about this series and get an idea of the content by visiting the website Jelly Telly.  There you will find games and videos and get a chance to get to know the characters.  It’s a fun site!

WITB can be found on Amazon and other online retailers.  You can also likely find them in your local Christian Bookstore as well.
