The Best Wing Sauce — a Giveaway!

*** This giveaway has ended.  Congratulations to the winners! ***

Yesterday I shared about my husband’s love of wings (and a blue cheese dressing recipe).  Today, I want to tell you just how that love came to be.

Once upon a time, a bunch of my hubby’s buddies decided to do a wings night at a fella’s house.  They invited their friend Mark, who had a fledgling wings sauce business, to cook the wings and to sample his sauces.   That night, my husband declares, a love of wings was born.

When I asked what was so great about wings, he explained:

“Wings are the perfect delivery method for Wys Guy Sauce.”

That was over 10 years ago.  Since then, Mark’s business, “Wys Wings” has really taken off (poultry pun intended).   Actually, Mark has been in the wing business since 90s and Wys Wings offers a variety of award winning sauces to both end-user consumers (like us!) and the food industry (restaurants).

Mike’s favorite sauce is Wys Guys, a habanero-based sauce that makes him hiccup with delight.   It has too much heat for me, I prefer Wysdom — it is sweet and tangy with just enough kick at a medium level of heat.

In addition to creating fantastic tasting sauces, Mark created a You Tube video series to show how too cook great wings at home.   My post yesterday described how we do it with an outdoor propane-based deep fryer; Mark demonstrates with an indoor countertop electric model.  He also explains how to prepare boneless wings.

Don’t Like Wings?

Even if you are not a wing fan, these sauces are great on all kinds of chicken dishes.   When we serve the kids chicken nuggets, this is what Mike & I dip ours in.   Mark also has a Teriyaki sauce and an Asian Ambrosia sauce that make great marinades.  Give them a try and see what you like!

We love wings… but always fight on the sauce, because hubby likes them really hot, and I am more a Mild kind of girl…So if we were to win a bottle of this sauce, we would have to go for the Medium one, just to negotiate! 🙂 Not sure if the kids could handle even a Medium though

I tend to enjoy some spice! However, that might be a little too spicy for the kids. Maybe some medium would be a good place to start! I would love to try this out!

Buffalo wings are one of my weaknesses. I think Hot sauce would be the best. Not as high as the Wy’s Guy, but still pretty strong. Great blog, Kendra!

This has me thinking about Wys Wings and blue cheese! I was so inspired by Mike’s blue cheese I went out today and threw together some of the ingredients. I couldn’t figure out why it tasted a bit odd, then I realized I wasn’t using Worcestershire, but rather Soy Sauce. DOH!
