Free Fun in Falls Church

Tuesday March 3, 2009

Last Friday, we met a friend at the Falls Church Community Center for their Open Gym for Tots.  I love going to the FCCC because it’s a big open space for the kids to run and play in.  The hold their open gyms every Friday during the school year (holidays and snow days, excepted) and it’s FREE!  (They charge non-residents a small fee for their regular open gym time , but NOT for this event).  It’s from 10-12 and they bring out trikes, balls, scooters, hula hoops etc.  They also have some mats in the center with pop-up climbing tunnels and other mats the kids to climb on.  The babies and toddlers usually hang out on the mats, and the “bigger” kids ride trikes and scooters and chase balls and have fun around the perimeter.  It can be a little nutty on a cold winter or rainy day, but it’s great when you just want to get out of the house.  And even when I don’t schedule a visit with a friend, I almost always seem somebody I know from something in the area.

Here are the pictures from our outing.  I forgot to take any of the play mats… I think I was too busy trying to keep Adam out of traffic – he wanted to be where the big kids were.
