  • Happy Maewyn Socket Day!

    Wednesday March 17, 2010

Round these parts, we take a low-key approach to St. Patrick’s Day.  We wear our green, but don’t do any carousing at the local pub.
We did have a green dinner – Tex-Mex Americana style:

Guacamole burgers (minus the bun, cuz I was out), french fries, and broccoli.   It all kinda cancels out, right?
    If you haven’t seen [...]

  • Happy Valentine’s Day!

    Sunday February 14, 2010

I hope you had a nice day – we did.  Ours was a low-key kind of day.  We don’t make a big “to do” about Valentine’s – my big thing was having a V-Eve party the night before.  We are trying hard to crunch our budget and reduce spending, so neither of us spent much [...]

  • Valentine’s Eve Sweetheart Dinner

We hosted a pre-Valentine’s dinner party for some friends on Saturday eve.  It was 4 couples + 9 kids (all six and under) – I wasn’t sure how crazy it would be, but we had a wonderful eve!
The theme was fondue — cheese and chocolate  (not at the same time, of course), rounded out with [...]

  • Snow Much Fun

    Saturday December 19, 2009

Unless you live under a rock, you probably heard the East Coast got a whopper of a snow storm.  Our area got up to 24″;  I estimate our house got closer to 15-17″ but it sure felt like more.   This is how we spent our snowy day.

By 11am, we had 8″ of snow.

    This is what [...]

  • Deck the Halls… Holiday Home Tour

    Monday December 14, 2009

There a bunch of blog “carnivals” out there featuring people showing off their Christmas decor, so I thought I would play along.   My house is definitely imperfectly decorated, but there are also many parts of my Christmas decor that I love and am happy to share with you!  It’s photorific, so go grab a coffee [...]

  • My new favorite tree farm

    Saturday December 12, 2009

I love getting a live Christmas tree and love the idea of going to a cut-your-own tree farm and hand selecting the perfect tree.  However, I have a particular idea about what the perfect tree should look like, and it’s typically not found at any of the tree farms in our area.   I have come [...]

We love Christmas music — maybe not in the malls in September, but in our home.  It’s nice to have on while bustling about with all the holiday preparations.  I thought I would share some of our favorite [...]

  • Advent Ideas and Fun Seasonal Activities

    Tuesday December 1, 2009

Tis the season!  November is so busy, December always seems to sneak up on me.   But we love our advent calendars, so I have to dig out the Christmas stuff in time for the kids to open them up.
We have three different advent calendars in our house, which works works well now that we have [...]

  • Giving Thanks, Preschool Style

Last week, hubs & I attended our preschooler’s Thanksgiving party.  It was fun to see them in their class and to watch them sing some songs for us.
Here’s  a few pics and videos from the day:

The kids lined up to sing for us:
