Bottom Line: The best fast food play area around: clean, well-maintained, and great cutstomer service. 4/5 stars.
Note: Chick-Fil-As are closed on Sundays.
I don’t frequent fast food play areas much anymore, but there was a long stretch where we were frequent customers. Even though we live close to the McDonalds play area in Arlington, I almost always opted to drive out to Fairfax Circle to go to this Chick-Fil-A. It only takes about 15 minutes to get to from North Arlington and in my opinion, it is worth the drive to get better tasting food and a much cleaner, nicer play area and restaurant.
One of the things I love about Chick-Fil-A is their phenomenal customer service. They are so good about looking out for moms — they will bring food to your table, carry your tray, and the they have staff devoted to circling the dining area to clean and help customers. I also like that they have vinyl cling placemats and hand wipes for the kids.
The play area is intended for kids under 54″ and is not a huge space.
Like most of the CFAs I’ve been in, it utilizes vertical space to create its play area. There is a bench to sit on, with cubbies for shoes. There are a few features on the ground floor, intended to appeal to the smaller tikes.
Then there are the stairs that lead to the play area above. I really like that they are designed to accommodate an adult, much better than the set-up at Mickey Ds.
Once the kids are up top, they can climb in around in some tubes that lead to a race car, and airplane cockpit and a tube slide that leads to the bottom.
It’s been a long while since I’ve *had* to climb up in a play structure, but I decided to do so to give you a few photos from the inside (what a dedicated blogger I am 🙂 ).
Coming down the tube slide:
I know these places are shunned by some moms due to the icky germ factor. I’m sure they are not 100% sanitary, but this one seemed pretty clean and well maintained while I was up there.
While I’m not spending much time in fast food restaurants these days, if I were, Chick-Fil-A will always be my first choice. Most free-standing CFAs have play areas and this one is the closest one to Arlington with a play area. There is a new CFA coming to Falls Church (near the Target on 50 by 7 Corners), but it’s within a shopping center and I can’t tell if it will have a play area or not.
