Of Sledding and Snow Shakes
Tuesday February 2, 2010Sunday was a beautiful morning, with perfect conditions for sledding. Sunny, not too windy, and not so much snow that we couldn’t drive our minivan to the nearest bestest hill in our neighborhood. It took some effort to get all of the children into their snow gear and out the door, but finally, [...]

Sunday January 24, 2010I’ve mentioned before, that we typically go to a small cabin out near Front Royal over New Years with friends from college. The good thing about the cabin was it was free, not too far away, and “rustic” enough that it was okay for everyone to bring their 17 dogs (I exaggerate, a tad). The [...]

Thursday January 14, 2010You may recall, about two weeks ago, Asher won a trip to the ER, courtesy of his busted head. In addition to stitches, he apparently came home with germs. ER on Saturday, then happy and healthy all day Saturday and Sunday … until around dinner time. Just as I was trying to coax some peas [...]

Saturday December 26, 2009One of the things I wanted to do this advent season was memorize Luke 2:1-20 with the kids. I figured if we started December 1st and worked on one verse a day, we’d knock it out well before Christmas. Well, we started off on a good foot, but then Mike & I got less diligent [...]

Wednesday December 23, 2009We are dug out and getting around, but it is still pretty snowy around here. On day two of the big storm (Sunday), there was nary a plow in sight. Lucky for us, one of our neighbors motored by in his bobcat and helped to dig us out.
He made a huge snow pile right by [...]

Saturday December 19, 2009Unless you live under a rock, you probably heard the East Coast got a whopper of a snow storm. Our area got up to 24″; I estimate our house got closer to 15-17″ but it sure felt like more. This is how we spent our snowy day.
By 11am, we had 8″ of snow.
This is what [...]

Thursday November 5, 2009We’ve been enjoying a lovely fall. I wanted to share some fall fotos that capture the beauty and the fun we’ve been up to:
I pass this big tree as I drive up our street. It is huge, stately and turns a gorgeous shade of colors. It makes me smile when I see it.
Silas had been [...]
