After months of living in CHAOS (Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome – Fly Lady), I decided enough was enough and it was time to get back to having fun parties.
To celebrate Father’s Day, we invited over my dad, my brother and his family, and another family to have a good ole fashioned man-food feast.
We decided to do a wings fest, coupled with an idea I’ve been wanting to do for ages — a shrimp boil.
It was such a fun party, I want to share what we did.
But first, here’s the Food Police warning: much of what we ate was NOT Paleo-approved (gasp!). But it was delicious and we had a great time.
First up, we deep fried some wings. We followed the formula I have shared in the past, complete with homemade blue cheese dressing. We used our favorite wings sauce – Wys Wings — which is amazing (but definitely not paleo).
Mike slaved away at the fryer, which we kept cordoned off from the kid-traffic.
After the wings, we got started on the shrimp boil. I have never done a shrimp boil before, but have wanted to ever since I read Skip to My Lou’s Shrimp Boil post. We followed her directions to a tee and it was perfect!
Since the boil process takes a while, we kept ourselves amused playing Giant Jenga.
Giant Jenga is really fun. It’s also pretty easy to make. I found directions online.
The kids were not as into the idea of shrimp, so they munched on hotdogs and other junk food.
Finally, at last, the boil was done.
The fun thing about this is you just dump it all on the table.
Shrimp, potatoes, kilbassa sausage, onions, and corn. YUM!
We stuffed ourselves silly and had a great time.
It was a super fun get together and I owe a huge thanks to my hubby who worked so hard to clean up the house and yard, just to have a party to celebrate his special day.
I love you honey!
