Menu Plan Monday 9/17

This was going to be MPM on Sunday, but I never got around to posting.   Despite a rough Redskins loss, it was a gorgeous fall weekend.  I managed to get my menu planning and shopping in and still enjoy the beautiful day.  Here’s this week’s menu, everything is paleo/primal, except as noted.

SundaySweet Pea’s Oh So Good Tilapia Cod + Cooked Broccoli
This is not paleo/primal for multiple reasons (teriyaki sauce, sugar, juice, etc.)  I did sub almond flour for the bread crumbs.  I also used cod instead of tilapia.  At some point I hope to come up with a more paleo version of this delicious meal.

MondayAutumn Stew
Parsnips or turnips make a great paleo substitution for potatoes in this hearty fall dish.

TuesdayRoast Chicken + Roasted Asparagus

WednesdayTaco Wednesday + Guacamole
The kids eat theirs with tortillas, Mike & I use will use lettuce wraps

Thursday — Grilled Chicken Breasts with Sauce and Roasted Brussel Sprouts
The chicken is simply sprinkled with cumin, salt & pepper and cooked on the Foreman grill.  I should put a recipe post together just because it’s such a quick and easy meal that we make frequently.

Friday — TBD/Leftovers/Cheat Day
True confession, I usually ditch whatever I have planned for Friday evenings b/c I’m cooked out at that point in the week.  We will often have … pizza (!) or other takeout on Fridays.

Kid Lunches

My kids don’t eat paleo lunches (gasp!).  For my own sanity, here’s what is planned this week for them.  We use and love the Easy Lunchbox system for kid lunches.

Mon:  Tuna in Pita Pockets + carrots w/hummus + choc almonds (ALL)

Tues: 
W – PB&J + goldfish + turkey slice
S:  Buy
A – Nutella sandwich + golfish + turkey

Wed:  
W – Turkey+Swiss Roll-up
S – Ham+Amer Cheese Sandwich
A – nutella sandwich

Thurs:
W- pasta
S – leftover roast chicken
A – ?

Fri:
W – buy
S – Scrambled Eggs
A – ?

    My kids don’t eat a paleo lunch either! For your fish, try Tamari or coconut aminos, use coconut sugar or honey, use arrowroot powder for the starch and you have a good Paleo recipe. I will be trying this soon.
