Redskins Training Camp

Wednesday August 29, 2012

Among the items on our summer bucket list was checking out the Washington Redskins Training Camp.

This was on the list more for me than the kids, as I am the only hardcore football fanatic in my house (I haven’t properly trained the kids to catch the fever).

Despite this, they allowed me drag them out to Ashburn to see what was what.   As is usually the case, it was sunny and hot and they weren’t in the best of spirits about this adventure.

There were misting sprayers set up, so the kids kept running over there and playing in them while I watched the action on the field.

Training camp is usually just a bunch of drills and maybe a little scrimmaging, but it was fun to get a glimpse of RGIII (#10 in yellow).

We saw him complete some passes.

And use his feet.

Joey T (Theismann) was on the sideline, watching the action.

Apparently the Hall of Famer QB had some words of wisdom for the rookie.

RGIII and Chris Cooley shared a moment on the sideline.  Alas, this dynamic duo wasn’t meant to be, I guess.  It was fun while it lasted Cooley!

While I had a great time, the kids were less enthused about the whole experience.   They kept wanting to borrow my camera, so this gives you an idea of what training camp was like from their perspective.

Despite their lack of interest on the field, they did enjoy some of the tents set up on the way into the fields.  There was a kids activity area as well as some vendors that had games like cornhole to play as well as some fun photo opportunities.

While this definitely wasn’t the kids favorite summer activity, I had a great time and am getting stoked for the regular season.

Hail to the Redskins!!

I can’t wait to see what we can do with RGIII this year!

Nice shoes, Theismann. We’re gonna miss you, Cooley.
We should give the camera to the kids more often, it’s fun from their perspective.

I can hear in my head, “Hail to the Redskins, hail victory…” SPH is a huge ‘skins fan, and by living for a decade in DC, I became one too (though the Browns are closest to my heart). This would be a dream for my hubby.
