Wowsers, where have the days gone? We lost power for about three days after the mega storm aka “derecho” blew through the DC area Friday night. Thankfully the power is back on now and we are re-acclimating to summer normal. Right now it means lots of camp and dive practices, but I should be back to a more regular posting schedule next week. In the meantime, here’s a July 4th recap.
My July 4th started with an intense workout at Crossfit Rubicon.
“7/4/1776″
7 rounds:
- 4 ~ thrusters, 115#/75#
- 1 ~ Rope Climb
- 7 ~ 10m shuttle runs
- 7 ~ Handstand Pushups
- 6 ~ Turkish Getups, 3/side, 55#/35#
This workout was insanely hard but so much fun (well, maybe not the get-ups). We had a great crowd at the box and it was so fun to complete together. Chef took some some great shots during the WOD, these images are all courtesy of him:
After that, I came home and decided to put all those bags of ice I bought to good use and have myself a little ice bath.
The problem was, my pool wasn’t deep enough and the heat made my ice melt in about 1 minute, but it felt cold and it felt good, especially after I got out. I may not have gotten the full effect, but my muscles did feel much better afterwards.
Then it was off the real pool for some water fun with the kiddos.
Then we came home and recovered for a bit before heading over to a friend’s house to eat, hang, and watch the Falls Church fireworks.
All in all it was a wonderful day and wonderful way to celebrate our country’s birthday. I hope you had a fabulous fourth as well!
