We are a week past Spring Break, but I wanted to post and record all the fun we had before I forget. I didn’t manage to plan a menu for the week, but I did come up with a menu of fun to keep us busy and out of the house.
I hope to devote a full blog post to some of these specific activities because they were so much fun. In the meantime, here’s a snapshot of how we spent our week.
Monday — Rebounderz
I had a coupon/deal to use up, so after I got my morning workout out in, we drove out to Rebounderz in Sterling where we bounced like crazy. The kids had a great time jumping, and drove me crazy with the arcade games.
Tuesday — Oxon Hill Farm
Oxon Hill is a working farm operated by the National Park Service. It is a laid back place with lots of opportunities to get up close and personal with the animals. We loved it! Afterwards we went to the National Harbor and enjoyed free cone day, courtesy of Ben & Jerry’s.
Wednesday — Greater Reston Art Center (GRACE)
Wednesday we stayed home in the morning, enjoying a chance to relax. Then I took the kids to my noon workout, and from there we drove out to GRACE in Reston where the kids got to observe art and then create their own.
Thursday — Play Date and Egg Dying
Thursday was another take-it-easy kind of day. We hung around at home and then went to a friend’s house in the afternoon. The kids played and dyed eggs and I enjoyed some adult companionship.
Friday = Daddy Day — Cub Run and Backyard Camping
Thankfully Mike took Friday off work and took over managing the kid fun. They visited a park, went swimming at Cub Run, and then capped off the evening by camping out side under the stars. I took advantage of my free day to get a hair cut and do some shopping.
Of course, Sunday was Easter and we had a wonderful time with family. All in all, we had a great time staying home over Spring Break and enjoying a staycation.
Kenra:
I have enjoyed following you since I discovered you in December (Christmas tree farm). 🙂 i am not at all creatinr so have been encouraged and inspired by your 🙂
I have never heard of the trampoline place – have put it on my list of fun things to do w the kids this summer :). I just wanted to thank you and to congratulate you on working out, sticking to your new eating plan so faithfully and to tell you that you look great!! Thanks!! Take care 🙂 Cherie’
Thanks for the kind words Cherie!
Trying to decide if I should check out Oxon Hill Farm or Frying Pan (in Herndon) this weekend? Which would you recommend for 4 and 2 yr old? Do you think I can get 2hrs of fun with either one?
I think you can’t go wrong with either one, especially at those ages. I think I prefer Oxon Hill, but really, if you’ve never been, you ought to hit up one on one weekend and get to the other another time.
Definitely pack a picnic lunch and you can easily get 2 hours out of either place. HTH!
