This week is Spring Break and I’ve been scrambling to come up with ideas to keep the kids occupied during our week off.  Here’s a list of ideas I’ve come up with — thanks goes to my local mom’s group and Facebook friends for giving me some great ideas.   I’m cheap, so most of these ideas don’t cost much.

Outdoor Fun

HikeTeddy Roosevelt Island, Great Falls, Scotts Run

Visit a Regional Park, e.g. Lake Accotink, Burke Lake, Wheaton Regional Park
Wheaton is the only park that I know for sure the train & carousel will be open during Spring Break

GardensRiver Farm, Meadlowlark Botanic Gardens, Green Springs, National Arboretum

See AnimalsFrying Pan Park, National Zoo, Oxon Hill

Mini-GolfUpton Hill in Arlington,  Jefferson Park in Falls Church, Lake Accotink in Springfield, (unsure if open), Woody’s in Herndon, Pohick Bay in Lorton (PB is the  cheapest on this list)

Indoor Fun

Swim — at an Arlington pool, or maybe out to Cub Run

Do ArtGreater Reston Arts Center Explore More
Kids observe art in the gallery and then are given a bucket of supplies to create their own art ($5 per bucket).

See Art — visit up a Smithsonian, we may get nerdy and check out this Math exhibit

Bounce — at Rebounderz, or a bounce house like Sport Bounce, House of Bounce, etc.
I love to combine a trip to Rebounderz with a Wegmans shopping run, so I can use their free childcare

Ice Skate or spectate! at Kettler Iceplex

This list is by no means exhaustive, just an assortment of ideas that sound good to me.   What are your Spring Break plans?
