I read this tip on someone else’s blog (maybe via WFMW?) and can’t remember where to give the credit. If this was your idea first, I apologize and appreciate the idea!
The problem: Putting meat that needs defrosting on a plate in the fridge leads to drips, and is a poor utilization of the space.
The solution: A cheap, clear shoebox sized container, with lid.
Now, I stick my meat, seafood, marinades, etc. into the freezer box for safe defrosting. Everything is contained within the box, so no drips anywhere, and the lid allows me to stack other stuff on top, giving me more usable space.
This little tip works great for me, it has really helped me manage the disaster that is my fridge. Of course, I still have to remember to pull my stuff out of the freezer the night before (and not a few hours before dinner, as I’m wont to do).
Do you have any simple but brilliant tips for keeping your fridge organized?
