I really enjoyed participating in a Bible Study during the school year. It was great for helping me keep my nose in the Bible, something I struggle with at times. While I know that I learn and grow spiritually when I spend time studying God’s word, I find it hard to commit to the habit.
Once CBS ended for the summer, I found myself looking for something to fill that void. Today in the Word has been the answer for me.
Today in the Word is a daily Bible devotion that is available online, via email, or in a hard copy book, which you can request online. There’s even a podcast available. It is a ministry of Moody Bible Institute, an organization I have great respect for.
I like that the devotionals begin with a passage of scripture, offer some thoughts on the passage, and then end with an application question. These aren’t in depth studies that require hours of commitment, and frankly, sometimes short is all I can handle. I’d like to say that I spend hours pouring over the Word each morning, but I’m not there right now.
The devotionals work through themes, so there is consistency and an overarching focus from day to day. In July, the focus has been on Galations.
If you are not doing any kind of Bible study and don’t know where to start, I highly recommend Today in the Word!
Disclosure: the opinions reflected are my own and I was not compensated in any way for this post. TDIW and MBI don’t know who I am. I just think it’s a wonderful ministry and want others to know about.
August just started, I need to check out this month’s study! You should, too.
