Did I mention? Sam is 6!

Thursday July 7, 2011

Here it is July and I’ve completely forgotten to post about Sam’s birthday!

He turned 6 during the last week of school and things were so hectic, I never got around to blogging about it.  In an effort to minimize the future therapy bill, I better make mention of our middle child’s birthday.

We had a very low key birthday celebration at home — the requested birthday dinner was hotdogs, baked beans, and peas & corn.  The requested birthday dessert was strawberry shortcake.   I made strawberry shortcake cups, which I found via Pinterest.

It was hard to fit 6 candles on his shortcake, but we made it work.

The gifts received reflected the interests of our busy, mechanically minded 6 year old boy.

– A gift certificate to the Lego store

– an super cool 50 Engino building set that includes a motor so kids can power their creations.

– A Little Labs Physics Beginner Experiment Kit — just the thing for a boy who is always asking how things work.

Since we let the grandparents and cousins buy all the cool stuff, the gifts from our family were a bit more random.   From us, he got:

– his own Bible, Read Aloud Bible Stories, some pool toys, and some pajamas — most notably Lego Stars Wars pjs.

As expected, he dove right into the building sets.

It took several days, but Sam was super proud to have put together the Ferris Wheel – it turns with the motor!

To wrap this up, I thought I would record some of the thoughts and interests of the birthday boy for posterity.
