If you have a cycling enthusiast, I highly recommend checking out the Air Force Cycling Classic this weekend.

On Saturday, there will be pro and amateur races in Clarendon, as well as a free kids race at 11:30am!

On Sunday, the action moves to Crystal City.  There will be more pro/am racing and another free kids race at 11:15am.

The kids race is open to children ages 9 and under.  They do one lap (or less, depending on their age/ability) around the course.   As you might expect, it is a BYO ride (bikes, big wheels, training wheels etc. all permissable).   Helmets are also required.  Pre-registration is recommended (tho not required) as is allowing extra time to get checked in and settled.  It was pretty crowded last year when we went.

You can find out more details about the Kids Race on the AFCC website.

Check out my blog post of our experience last year:

If you have a young one who fancies himself the faster biker on the block, I highly recommend this great event!

Disclosure:  I guess in the interest of disclosure, I should mention that my husband works for one of the sponsors of this event, but it really has no bearing on this post — I’m not receiving any compensation, nor did we even find out about this kids race from his work.
