LTIL: IKEA Microwave Cover

Wednesday June 8, 2011

I thought I might introduce another series called “Little Things I Love” — when I find something that’s useful or makes my life easier, I will do a little write-up on it.

My first LTIL to highlight is the PRICKIG Microwave lid from Ikea.

Like I said, it’s such a little thing, but this microwave cover has been such a help in the kitchen.   I used to cover dishes with plastic wrap when reheating to prevent splatters, but I hated having that material touching my food, and I hated making a mess of my microwave when I’d forget.

The lid is made of plastic and I know some people are anti any form of plastic in the microwave, but I like that it’s BPA free and it doesn’t actually touch the food.   It has holes in the top to release steam and it is microwave and dishwasher safe.   We usually just keep it in the microwave when we’re not using it, so it doesn’t take up any extra space.

Perhaps it’s best feature is that it is only $0.99!

It’s not available online, but I found it in the kitchen section of my local IKEA.

This is just one of those little things I love.   What are you loving this week?

We got ours at BB&B, one big and one little. So much easier to clean than the whole inside of the microwave!
