Wendy’s Good News

Since this blog is my attempt to chronicle the amusing and significant moments of our family life, I would be remiss if I didn’t share the most important milestone a person can attain.

Last week, when I went to rouse the kids for school, Wendy informed me, with a shy but proud smile, that she had asked Jesus into her heart the night before and was now a Christian!

I was thrilled!  And so is she.   I believe she has had a saving faith for a while, but we hadn’t let her take communion yet.  In part, we wanted to make she understood the meaning of the sacrament, but we also wanted to make sure her faith was hers alone.

I was going to summarize what it means to become a Christian, but then I thought it would be better to use her own words.   Here’s the conversation Wendy and I just had:

Why did you want to become a Christian?

Because I wanted to trust Jesus so I could go to heaven.

How do you become a Christian?

You believe in Him and trust Him as your Savior.

Why do you trust Him?

Because He died on the cross for our sins.

How do you think your life has changed now that you’re a Christian?

I feel like I want to do the right thing.  I feel brave enough to do more things that I was afraid of before.

Why do you feel brave?

Jesus put power in me when I was weak.  It’s like someone poor becoming rich.

Are there any Bible verses that helped you understand what it means to be a Christian?

For God so loved the world, he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.  John 3:16

Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.  Acts 16:31

Is there anything else you’d like to tell people now that you’re a Christian?

Elijah and Friends changed my life.  On the second to last page it talked about how you get to heaven.  From that I understood the real meaning of being a Christian.

Trust in Jesus and He will become your Savior too.

Praise God for the good work He is doing in her life.  We are so proud of her and grateful to know she is God’s child.  We look forward to seeing Him at work in her life!
