U.S. Botanic Garden Holiday Exhibit

Visiting the Botanic Gardens Holiday display is always a “must do” Christmas activity in my book, but this year, I couldn’t get the whole family on board.   The display features DC landmarks replicated in miniature using plant materials.  It also has a a variety of trains set up, in various scenes — this year amid famous landmarks from around the world.  The exhibit runs through January 2, 2011.  The garden is open daily from 10am – 5pm, but has extended hours during the holiday season on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 8pm.  I like going in the evenings because it is less crowded than weekends, easier to find street parking, and they have  live music.

Although I couldn’t get out whole family excited about going, Sam was eager to check it out.   We went the Thursday before Christmas and while it was crowded, it was manageable.  We had a great time checking everything out and it was a nice mother-son bonding evening.  Here are some pictures from our outing:
