Every year, I would hear my friends would talk about Big Truck Days, a fun event sponsored by the town of Herndon’s Public Works department. Unfortunately, it was always after the fact. This year, I made sure I had it on my calendar and we got over there this afternoon.
Apparently, the afternoon is the time to go – there were other people there, but it was not too crowded. They set up an assortment of vehicles for the kids to climb on. It’s cute and fun. My only wish is that there was more input from the Public Works folks – it’d be nice to ask questions about the vehicles and even hear fun stories.
Despite that, the kids had no complaint and handled themselves quite well, despite delaying naptime.
Sam was in heaven … and very safety conscious. He made a point of buckling up his seatbelt at every stop, until I told him he should skip that step so he’d have more time to check out the rig.

Adam has a phobia of things that make loud noises — he seemed convinced the vehicles might erupt in noise at any moment. For the first long while, he was content to sit in his stroller with Lammie. Eventually he wandered out, but it took him a while to get bold.

In addition to the vehicles, they had a big plastic tube the kids could explore and a traffic light the kids could control with a remote.

It was a beautiful day and a great time out. There are rumors this event may not occur next year, due to budget cuts. If you haven’t been yet, it runs through tomorrow from 9am – 7pm.

I went yesterday after preschool and blogged about it today. The kids had a lot of fun.
Cute pictures. My girly girls had a great time. Are you members at GCFs again this year? If so, I hope we run into you there too. Have a wonderful Mother’s day!!!
