Joining the Coupon Crazies

Thursday March 11, 2010

I’m trying to live more frugally and have joined the ranks of the crazy coupon ladies. I’ll share more of my exploits another time, but I did want to show off my recent haul from Giant:

I got all this for the low low price of …

$33.48!  And actually, it was $5 less than that, because I came home and realized I hadn’t used my coupon for free Matzos bread (valued at $5.11) – so really, I only paid $29.48 for $89 of stuff!  (Yes, I went back the next day and the CS gal gave me the $$ for the coupon).

Granted, I wouldn’t have purchased a lot of this stuff if I hadn’t been coupon shopping, and it did take me an hour + to shop and check it out – but I do understand the thrill of the hunt!

I applaud you, Kendra. I attempted shopping with coupons once and found great success. I’m not embarrassed to admit that it took me hours to collect the coupons, organize said coupons, build my list and actually shop for the items. The ordeal was so traumatizing that I have not dared to attempt it again since.

I’m lazy and wasteful for not utilizing coupons…but at least I’m honest, right?

I love couponing. I save an average 20%- 30% each time I shop just with coupons and then more if I add the coupons to sale items. It is worth the time and hassle, but it is a lot of time and hassle.
