I took these pictures the week before school started. It was our last week of summer fun, so we spent one morning at this local playground. It’s got unusual play elements that suit both older and younger kids.
Wendy (& Sam are into the climbing structure).
Sam carefully inches up the “slide.”
Wendy on the twisty ladder. This is the point where it tilts sideways and she says “enough.”
Adam (& Sam) like this big red swing. It is designed to be accessible for kids with disabilities, but my able-bodied kids are pretty fond of it too.
Sam finds a seat on a high perch.
Adam loved the slides, and all their staticky fun. He would slide down…
.. then stop at the bottom so he could jump off.
Then climb back up and do it again.
Wendy climbed to new heights as well.
Adam found the spinning pole, only it doesn’t spin as well as it used to.
Adam loved the spinning bucket. I would look up from across the park and seem him trying to climb into it.
Then I would rush over to sit next to him. If I wasn’t with him, he would spin and not be able to stop. Although I’m not sure he’d mind.
This doo dad is a favorite of lots of kids. It spins and goes faster when it the weight of the kids on it run downhill. It puts out a good bit of centrifugal force (I had to look that up to see if it was centrifugal or centripetal), so kids cling to it, lest they be thrown off. Fortunately, the surrounding area is a soft surface.
Wendy goes for a spin. She’s now big enough to put her feet down if she wants out.
But she was having too much fun to stop.
All in all, it was another fun day at the park.

Which playground is this? We really should do a playdate. You and I and our kids seem to like a lot of the same things.
