We finally made it out to Fairfax Corner a couple of Wednesdays ago to check out their “Little Tots Summer Fun Series“. FC is a relatively new development in Fairfax County that has lots of shops, a big fancy movie theater and some great restaurants. It has a plaza out in front of the theater that has a water fountain feature that kids can splash in. Also, on every other Wednesday throughout the summer, they have free kids entertainment, starting at 10:30.
When we went, the entertainment was a group called “Mad Scientists.”
This international group is (according to their website) “the world’s leading science enrichment provider … [and] provides a unique assortment of hands-on programs, live presentations, theatrical productions and innovative products.” In other words, they have really cool, fun science-based shows.
And I have to say, my 5 and 4 year olds were captivated, as was most of the audience.
The guy leading the show made stuff foam, ooze, change colors and all kinds of stuff. Kids got to be volunteers — my daughter raised her hand eagerly every time, but never got picked.
Adam wasn’t old enough to sit still for the show, so he and I checked out the fountains. They were much more to his liking.
After the show, the fountains got crazy crowded. We played for a few minutes, then headed over to Pot Belly for lunch with friends.
It was a fun outing, and I definitely plan to take the kids back, tho maybe not on a Wednesday, just to avoid the crowds. If you do want to check out the shows, the last one of the summer is this week – you can check out the schedule online.
Here’s the rest of the pics from our outing:
