We wrapped up two weeks of “swimmin’ lessons” at a local pool. Wendy & Sam both made great progress. Wendy was already comfortable putting her head under and swimming underwater. She improved to doing some strokes and learning how to breathe on the side. She has a good ways to go before she is proficient, but we were quite proud of her advancements.
Sam has always been less enthusiastic about being in and under the water. He still doesn’t want to put his head under, but made great strides – including jumping in unassisted. He hasnn’t caught up to Wendy yet, but I’m hopeful we’ll get there. Adam was forced to stay staked out in the stroller, which was not ideal for our water-lovin babe. But we made it up to him by giving him some quality time in the baby pool after lessons.
Here’s some pics from our time at the pool:

Gerinimo!

Being comfortable with the life jacket was one of the skills the kids had to master.

Wendy & her fellow participant practice safety skills – helping someone out of the pool.

Bedraggled but loving it!

Having fun sticking his head in the water

Look at Sam jump in by himself! Big progress for him.

Great job Si. Amazing that Si. doesn’t like to put his face in but Adam thinks it’s fun. Rachel’s not so sure about putting her face in, but I haven’t really pushed her yet. It’s got to be fun watching Wes. swim, too. Someday our boys will get there, and my girl.
