It’s been bitter cold this winter, but not so snowy. FINALLY, on Tues 1/27, we got our first real taste of snow. The kids were ecstatic! I was not too excited about the prospect of bundling everyone up, but we still had a great time (I waited until the baby’s naptime so I wouldn’t have to schlep him around outside).
The kids really wanted to make a snowman, but alas, the snow was pretty dry and I couldn’t get a good snowbal started for them. I consoled/distracted them by offering to make them “Snow Shakes.”
Enjoy the pics (and read the captions for the recipe).

Logan, not admiring the snow

The kids enjoyed it more.

Gearing up for a snowball fight.

Gotcha mom!

Sam the Snow Angel

Eating snow was a top priority

Throwing it also fun.

Snow slide!

Wendy showed great initiative, wanting to shovel the driveway. And she did a great job!

Sam, in true younger brother fashion, jumped right in and went to work on the stairs.

As a reward for their hard work, we made “Snow Shakes.”

First pack out the glass with fresh CLEAN snow.

Then add sugar, vanilla, and milk.

Mix mix mix.

Taste and adjust ingredients accordingly.

Then slurp slurp slurp.

Yum!

I love the idea of the snow shakes. I will definitely need to do that with the girls the next time it snows.
