ONEderful Adam

It has been a wonderful year of having Adam in our family. I keep saying, “if every baby was like him, no one would ever stop having babies.” (Of course, I have had three kids, so I know babies come with all kinds of temperaments).
We had a low-key celebration at home on Saturday. Wendy insisted that I make a fancy cake – she suggested another frog or butterfly cake (apparently, I have created a tradition of over-the-top birthday cakes), but I managed to talk her down to simple cup cakes. That worked well because she got to help me decorate them.
Grandad, Aunt Melissa, and Cousin Owen joined us for the festivities. No formal games, just a lot of silliness and fun.
And of course a little Wii Mario Cart action.
He’s not walking yet, but pretty darn close. He can “free stand” and will even try to take steps, although he wipes out in the process.
We opened presents before dinner. And by “we”, I mean Adam sat in my lap while the other kids mauled his presents.
The “Frog in a Box” present was a big hit with everyone 5 and under.
After presents, we ate dinner. I made Chicken Pot Pie. And then, of course, we had cake. First, we tried to light the birthday boy on fire.
It wasn’t so dangerous once we restrained him.
Then he got to eat. At first he was quizzical.
But once he got a taste of the good stuff, he never looked back.
Happy birthday sweet boy – we pray we get to celebrate many many more!

Happy Birthday Adam! That frog in a box looks like a lot of fun. I am glad he enjoyed his cupcake.
Happy Birthday little man!! (Is it just me, or is he looking more and more like S?)
