Who’s cooking Christmas dinner? (raises hand).
I feel like I’ve been slow to get started this December, but the menu is finally set, the groceries shopped, and much of the prep work done! This year’s menu is not too different from the last few. We like what we like and don’t want to mess with tradition
(until I get bored).
Anywho, this is what our Christmas feast looks like:
Breakfast:
- Monkey Bread
- Fruit Salad
Lunch / Appetizers
- Ham & Cheese Sandwiches
- Veggie Tray
- Cheese & Crackers
- Shrimp Cocktail
- Cider
- Christmas Punch
Last, but not least, the big feast:
- Standing Rib Roast
- Horseradish & Beet Sauce
- Broccoli Salad
- PBC Salad
- Corn Pudding
- Mashed (Sweet) Potatoes
- Dinner Rolls
Can’t forget “Tizerts” (as Sam would say):
- Christmas confections (cookies & other goodies from cookie party and other baking)
- Trifle
- Peanut Butter Pie
Shew, I think that’s it. I am NOT making it all – grandparents and siblings are contributing handily. I am most grateful for the help.
So what’s cooking at your house?

It all sounds wonderful! Merry Christmas!
Sounds yummy. The menu our out house includes cinnamon rolls, grapefruit and sausage for breakfast, brie in filo dough with cran-apple chutney for lunch/snacks, and an early dinner of filet mignon with gorgonzola sauce, balsamic spinach with pine nuts and raisins, and mashed potatoes. And best of all, Creme brulee with raspberries/chambourd for dessert! Then we’ll head out to the hospital to bring Larry some leftovers. Hopefully my cooking will at least be superior to the hospital cafeteria feast.
Hmmmmm … can’t wait. Monkey bread! Yum.
