Do you hear that? It’s the sound of a baby sweetly napping. It’s also the sound of the dog not whining. And the older kids not fighting. Not asking for snacks. Not arguing over which video to watch. Not complaining about what’s being served for dinner (I could go on, but I’ll stop).
Why so silent, you ask?
Mike just left with Wendy, Sam, & Logan to go down to Grandma & Grandpa’s “country house.” You see, we have cousins in town (I’ll blog about that in a minute) and they’ve been staying with the Grands in Alexandria. But now, everyone is headed down to the Smith Mountain Lake region for a few days of recreation in the country before the cousins trek back to Montana.
Except me and the baby. We will join up with them in a few days, but for now, I get to enjoy a blissfully quiet house. If you have more than one kid, you learn that having one kid is easy (compared to 2 or more). The problem is, you never get to go back to having one kid to enjoy it. So, staying home by myself with no one to care for beside Adam is like a mini-vacay (a mini-vacay with a loaded gun under my pillow, vigilant neighbors, and an itchy trigger finger… just in case any bad guys are reading this…).
While staying home alone may not compare to a business class seat on a trans-continental flight, any mom with at least two kids will agree, it’s a close second!

I can only imagine! It is a break for me when I only have one so I bet you are overjoyed! But missing the little wild ones too

I completely understand! When the grandparents take one of the girls for an overnight visit, Chris and I feel like things get 10 times easier with only two. We actually can go to a restaurant and finish a meal without racing around the table. Enjoy your mini vacation!
