Poor Logan doesn’t get much love these days. Or if he does, it’s probably not the way he’d like to receive it.
He doesn’t like it when the kids shout at him or man-handle (kid-handle?) him, but he tolerates them pretty well. And he does love to snuggle on the couch, or curl up on the kid’s bed at night.
Sam is the rougher of the older two (no shock there), so Logan is understandably a little more wary of him. But, Logan also knows that Sam is the messier eater of the two and that reaps it’s own rewards. So, if Sam is eating, Logan is sure to be nearby, looking for scraps.
When the kids play in the backyard, Logan is often out back too. Sometimes he idles in the sun …
Other times, he runs around, chasing the crazy kids.
When they decide they’ve had enough, they know how to deal with him. One day, I looked out back and saw Logan clipped to his training table (I forgot to snap a pic). Then, the other day, this is what I saw:
Poor ole Logan was relegated to the dog house (or rather, the kid’s re-purposed their play house). They were quite proud of their accomplishment.
Logan will turn 7 years old May 1st. As much as he drives me crazy with his dirty paws, counter-surfing, and endless whining, he is an important member of our family. And the day he ceases to be part of our family will be a terribly sad one. I love that the kids love their dog and love animals in general. Despite his annoying habits, he’s a pretty good dog to have.
