38W5D – OB Appt

Had my second appointment with Dr. Tchabo today.  For the first time since the first trimester, I suceeded in not gaining any weight from my last appt!  (It probably helps that this appt was first thing in the morning, pre-breakfast).  Mike came too, so he got to meet him as well.

I really like Dr. T.  He has a very pleasant countenance and makes me feel comfortable, that things are doable.  I think this is because other docs want to spend time emphasizing all the things that could go wrong and why a c/s is safer.  He is well aware of the  potential complications and has laid out what would the contingency/emergency plan is, but he’s not spending time spelling out every last scary thing.

He didn’t even bother checking me for dilation or effacement – he said there was no point.  Baby is definitely still breech, but everything else looks good.

So, we are still in a holding pattern and still praying baby Gonzo gets himself turned around.

ps – a funny aside about Dr. T.  We asked how many breech deliveries he did last year and he said around 30 (I forgot to ask him to clarify if that was successful deliveries or attempts or what).  I think he said he did 100 (or was it 200?) deliveries total last year.  Mike asked him how many babies he’d delivered over his career and he said he stopped counting at 12,000!   I told him he needed a sign like they used to have in front of McDonalds, “Thousands and thousands served.”
